Welcome to the Presbyterian Church of Madison.   We are a congregation of 200 members dedicated to growing and serving together in Christ so that all may know God’s love. We are a part of the Presbyterian Church (USA), a Christian denomination of 2.4 million members in 11,100 congregations. Presbyterians trace their history to the 16th century and the Protestant Reformation.

We are the oldest church in Madison, founded in 1747 by Rev. Azariah Horton.  Our first meetinghouse was located at the top of hill on Main Street, across the street from the Madison Jr. High.  Our cemetery, still there, covers 5 acres, and is listed as an historic site.  Our current sanctuary was built in 1954.

Webb Memorial Chapel, which is on the other side of our Parish House, was built in 1888.   We hold summer chapel services there because it is air-conditioned.  Webb was designed by a noted architect of the Gilded Age, Josiah Cleveland Cady.

Music has always been an integral part of our identity.  We have a children’s choir, a bell choir, and an adult chancel choir.  New singers and ringers are always welcome!  Choir rehearsals are held on Thursday nights.  Contact our choral director for more information.

We are committed locally, nationally and internationally to spreading the good news of Jesus Christ with the poor, needy and less fortunate.  We support the Inter-Faith Food Pantry and send financial support to mission and outreach programs. Prayer shawls, knit by the women of the church, are given to anyone in the community in need of God’s comfort and healing love.

Fellowship opportunities abound.   We offer a variety of all church events through the year, and we have open dinner group, “TGIF: Dinner at Seven” that dines together on a regular basis.  The first Friday of the month we have our Film Fest. The second Saturdays there is the Men's Breakfast. There are three active circles of Madison Presbyterian Women.  Visitors and newcomers are also welcome in the Adult Education class that meets at 9:00 AM in the Parish Hall Parlor before worship. For youth fellowship opportunities, read our church newsletter, the Spire, and watch for events in the worship bulletin announcements.

Sunday school classes are held for children in preschool (3 year olds) through 8th grade from September to May during worship.   The children begin worship with their parents, and depart during the “Passing of the Peace.”  Children rejoin their parents for the fellowship time after the service.

The Presbyterian Church of Madison is a member of the Newton Presbytery and The Presbyterian Church USA.

We warmly welcome you to join us – for a Sunday service, a seminar, or a church social.  Our doors are always open. Those interested in joining may attend “Inquirers’ Classes.”  The pastor leads these classes during the course of the year.  Please feel free to contact the office for to answer your questions.
