We re-wrote our vision and mission during a series of congregational workshops in spring, 2003. Here are the ideals we are working toward as a church.
Our VisionWe are Christians who believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and who seek to proclaim the Good News of his life, death and resurrection in our church, in the community and throughout the world. We strive to live that faith, using all the resources at our command, so that we might be the salt of the earth and the light of the world to the glory of God.
Our MissionThe Presbyterian Church of Madison is a Christ-centered church, strong in faith, which experiences spirituality through our love of Christ. We are committed to sharing this love and being responsive to the message of the Gospel through:
Embracing and building upon our unique strengths and gifts Worship • By offering variety in the timing and style of worship, balancing traditional teachings with today's needs. Music • By affirming and broadening our music ministry through the growth and development of our choirs and youth music programs. Resources • By ensuring appropriate stewardship of the church’s endowment fund • By offering the use of our building and our musical instruments to other people and organizations
Strengthening other resources Congregational and Community Outreach • By focusing on specific outreach opportunities that make a positive difference • By creating a network of volunteers whose skills are uniquely suited to serve Education • By providing applied theological education to all age groups, with seamless continuity in learning from child to youth to adult • By offering a variety of “basic-needs” programs and life-enrichment classes
And by glorifying God and enjoying Him forever.
