This program is offered to all members and guests of the Presbyterian Church of Madison interested in an evening of film and discussion.
Films and topics are varied and the discussions stimulating. A diverse group of people of varied backgrounds, affiliations, and beliefs join us for fellowship and refreshments. No reservations are necessary and everyone is welcome.
The films are shown the first Friday of the month starting October through May at 7:00 p.m. in Webb Chapel.
Many of the films are family friendly - youth and adults are welcome.
October 7 Partition 2007 (R)
In 1947, the same tumultuous year that India and Pakistan were divided into two separate states, a Sikh and former soldier (Jimi Mistry) puts his life on the line to save the life of a beautiful Muslim woman (Kristin Kreuk). In the wake of the heroic rescue, the two strangers find themselves falling in love. But are they destined to stay confined by the strict boundaries of their respective faiths?

remake of the 1965 film that starred James Stewart.
December 2, 2011 Sweet Land 2005 (PG)
Norwegian-American farmer Olaf Torvik (Tim Guinee) and his rural Minnesotan community must struggle to overcome years of anti-German propaganda and prejudice when he discovers that his mail-order bride, Inge (Elizabeth Reaser), is not only a German but also an accidental Socialist. Writer Ali Selim also directs this Independent Spirit Award-winning tale of love's ability to triumph over ignorance.

A delegation from Madame Mao's Beijing Dance Academy choose 11 year old peasant villager Li Cunxin to study ballet in far-off Beijing, where he trains for seven grueling years to become one of China's greatest dancers. His efforts win him the opportunity to dance in America, opening his eyes to a new love and the possibility of a dramatic defection from China in this remarkable true story based on Cunxin's autobiography.

In this bittersweet dramatic comedy, legendary director Woody Allen focuses his lens on a young engaged couple whose experiences traveling together in Paris make them begin to question the kind of life they want to live as a couple.
May 4, 2012 Princess Ka'iulani 2009 (PG)
Lush scenery and gorgeous photography highlight this bio of Princess Kaiulani (Q'Orianka Kilcher), a 19th-century Hawaiian princess raised in England but determined to maintain her people's independence from aggressive American businessmen. After being sent to England as a child by her Scottish father, Kaiulani returns to Hawaii and becomes a political activist who fights to retain her throne, even though she must leave her English paramour.
