“I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25.40
The Mission & Outreach Committee at the Presbyterian Church of Madison is a small but active group. As Presbyterians, we as a church are called to mission. Presently under the leadership of elder Charles Courtney we try to help people in need wherever we can.
We consistently support the Interfaith Food Pantry of Morris County (IFP) We collect monetary as well as food donations and deliver them to the pantry. (You can drop off non-perishable items at the church).
Every May, we are a collection point for the National Association of Letter Carriers “Stamp out Hunger” food drive which benefits the IFP. In addition, we organize our own food drives at local grocery stores.
How you can help:
- bring food donations to the church
- drive the donations to the IFP
- help at a food drive
- This is a great opportunity for children, too.
Other charities we’ve been supporting are “Presbyterian Disaster Assistance-Out of Chaos, Hope” “Homeless Solutions “Greenfaith” the “Heiffer Project” and “Doctors without Borders”
Every year during advent, we organize an “Alternative Christmas Giving” where you can make a donation to one of a group of charities in honor of your loved one. We’ve also worked on projects on an as needed basis. We’ve collected shoes for children in Iraq, and winter clothes for children in the Republic of Georgia.
The needs are always great and many, and the helping hands too few. Come join us and add your pair of hands!
