One pastor calls mission "the heartbeat of the church."*  Here at the Presbyterian Church of Madison, we put our hearts into our work for others.  This year, we're again focusing on one critical worldwide cause: hunger.

On a local level, we continue to support the Interfaith Food Pantry, a Morristown resource for senior citizens, low-income families and families with emergency situations.  We're delivering help in the form of checks, donated food and hopefully volunteer hours.

As partners of Madison-Florham Park Meals on Wheels, Madison Presbyterian Women members deliver hot lunches and companionship to a dozen homebound neighbors every Wednesday.  Madison Presbyterian Women also give generously toward other needs that are special to them, from layette items for Newark babies born with AIDS to funding for a Christian school in New Mexico.

Our Sunday school children learn how to help others by working on hands-on mission projects.  In fall 2007, they collected money to buy a cow for the Heifer Project. At Christmas, they collect gifts for a needy Madison family.

Church members hand knit and bless shawls to comfort sick or grieving individuals in our community as part of our new Prayer Shawl Ministry.
