Adult education
ADULT ED: The Adult Education class continues to use a new curriculum this fall. The Thoughtful Christian material offers several series, from Biblical interpretation to reviews of Christian positions on current issues of national interest. The fall class is engaged in a series on "Religion and Politics in America" with essays by pastors, politicians, and theologians. The class meets in the parlor at 9:00 a.m. each Sunday. Please feel free to come and join the discussions if only on an occasional basis.
FIRST FRIDAY FILM FEST" Christians have recognized the power of story ever since the ministry of Jesus.... Jesus consistently used parables to communicate truth.... compelling stories triggered the reason, imagination, and emotion of his listeners as they were invited to deepen their faith and understanding," state the authors (C. M. Barsotti and R. K. Johnston) of Finding God in the Movies.
More than mere entertainment, films can
provide us space to pause and meditate on our purpose and place in life.
Perhaps the appeal of good films is that they help us make sense of the
world even while they provide a temporary escape from it. We can
anticipate finding God's presence in the movies we watch for a truthful
telling of the human drama can voice the divine as well. Our world,
after all, is God's world.
Madison Presbyterian Women hold circle meetings the 3nd Tuesday of each month in the morning, afternoon or evening. Our Bible study this year focuses on what women in the Bible said through their words and actions. Any woman interested in Bible study, mission and fellowship is welcome to join MPW.
