Inside Our Doors

Our buildings and grounds at The Presbyterian Church of Madison are registered historical landmarks that have been at the center of Madison since its beginning. Webb Memorial Chapel is a Romanesque Revival style building constructed in 1888 seats 105 for worship and weddings. The stone chapel was designed by the noted architectural firm of John Cleveland Cady & Company. Josiah Cady, the lead designer, also designed the Metropolitan Opera and Natural History Museum in New York City. Money to build the Chapel was donated by Mr. and Mrs. James A. Webb, Sr. in memory of their only son, James A. Webb, Jr. The Chapel is connected by a stone passageway to the church’s 1928 parish hall.

Our beautiful sanctuary opened for worship in 1954. With seating for 500, the sanctuary offers one of the largest auditorium spaces in town, state-of-the-art musical instruments and excellent acoustics. The sanctuary and parish house are handicap-accessible. Our parish house, built in 1926, underwent an extensive renovation in 1998. It contains a library, classrooms, church offices, rental offices and Fellowship Hall with a stage, kitchen and 100 person seating capacity.

We rent portions of our spacious buildings for a Montessori school and offices. And we host community groups here, from Alcoholics Anonymous to the 4-Footed Leaders Club and their Seeing Eye puppy friends from 4-H. To inquire about renting space inside our doors for a single or recurring event call the church office at 973-377-1600 or click to contact us.
